Initial formation combines stages of Aspirancy, Pre-Novitiate, Novitiate and period of temporary profession. In these four stages, the formees are helped to grow in human and spiritual maturity and enabled to discern their vocation as well as to embrace the way of life in the Congregation in response to God’s call.
A period of introduction to the Congregation and faith formation.
A stage focused on human, spiritual, and Christian maturity.
The novitiate marks the beginning of the life in the Congregation and is a time of intensive formation. They are initiated to the knowledge, understanding and living of the Charism. It is a period of deeper immersion into the Charism, spirituality, community life, and apostolic mission of the Congregation, preparing the novices to embrace their vocation with conviction and generosity.
To be admitted to the novitiate, the candidate has to complete 17 years of age.
Testing candidates on the ability to live the Charism is an important task of those who admit candidates to the Society and take on their formation. In this matter numbers are never important.
-Rev. Fr. Mathias Wolff SJ
This period begins with Temporary Profession and it may extend from three to nine years. It is a time of continued formation. During these years, the sisters are assisted in deepening their appreciation of their vocation, growing in familiarity with the spiritual heritage of the Church and the Congregation, and progressively integrating the evangelical counsels into their daily lives. This period prepares them for the mature and definitive commitment of Perpetual Profession.
My deepest desire is for you to become a dedicated religious, validating the vocation to which you have been called.
