The Seed Sown in Ghana

The JMJ Mission in Ghana began in 1983 with the arrival of Sr. Ignatia Busch, who came to serve as a doctor at Holy Family Hospital, Techiman. Through her missionary zeal and selfless service, the seed of JMJ was planted in the fertile soil of Ghana.

The arrival of Sr. Ignatia opened opportunities for collaboration with local Bishops and Church leaders, especially within the Diocese of Sunyani. In 1987, the General Chapter decided to explore possibilities for a new mission in a developing country where Indian and Indonesian Sisters could begin missionary work. This vision became a reality with the arrival of pioneer Sisters on 25th July 1990.
